My attention, in a formal matter, turned to the response that students feel the education system is failing them. In all of my classes, I asked the students two questions, What they want from their education? And what they want from their teachers? I was surprised to some degree of the answers, and others I expected from my personal thoughts. The most common response to what students want from their education is to engage with the teacher! Many students feel as if the teacher just sits behind the computer since most of their course work is Internet based. This philosophy strengthens my personal theory that too much technology in the classroom is harmful. I understand that our society is lacking in competitive education with the rest of the world, but isolating our students to technology is also a negative impact. The answer to the question of what do students want from their teachers is to be respected!
